27 Days!!!

27 days! How crazzy is that!
We have flights!
Actually we have had flights for a while now but no one said anything about it on our blog. Well, mom might have. I didn't actually read her post.Georgia and I have started writing in our journals. Those are the journals that we will be writing in for the duration of the trip. We chose them from the collection of notebooks that mom keeps in a drawer. Mom has been on many trips and has kept acount of them. I have been reading her journal from when she went to Europe. She was sixteen when she first went.
I have been learning Russian. While we are on this trip I want to learn German and finish learning Russian. It will be really pointless to learn either of those languages because I don't think we will be going to Russia or Germany. We might be going to Germany. Maybe. :)

Counting Down

Well, we've got the flight tickets and our first ten days of accommodation.  Leaving from Toronto on April 9 with the expectation of returning on December 11 and then back again if we're still enjoying the adventure.  We've been to the family doctor and are lined up for the dentist, optometrist, and all important final haircut.  We've rented the house and arranged a manager for our rental property.  I'm in the process of trying to give away 50% of all we own so we don't have to store it and Tom spends his evening pouring over canal maps of Europe.  Georgia and Emily have signed up to do their math curriculum online and Emily has spent some time looking at the grade six Ontario curriculum documents to plan next year's schooling.

All we have left to do is:

• get two cars fixed
• sell two cars
• arrange financing for the boat
• apply for travel insurance
• arrange for a car to rent in Amsterdam
• file our taxes
• close my office and move out all the furniture
• pack the house

And then we're off.  Twenty seven days to go.  No problem.  Carolyn

Making the Rumors True

Word's out that we're leaving and the house has been rented, so we'd best book some flights and get ourselves off this island.  The plan is a flight to Amsterdam, a drive to Sneek, a boatshow, a boat purchase, and a year long river/canal adventure.  Here are some of the contenders for our home for the year.   Carolyn

 

Time to Go!!!

This is the first time for me to write on this blog (actually it's the first time for anyone from the wiens-wroe family to write something, although mom did type something this morning but she did not post it). I just figured out how to use this blog. You know, Google can be quite confusing. We are going to use this blog to tell our friends and family about our trip without having to send a postcard every day. I am so excited for our trip!!!! I would really like to get going!
